Judging beer quality is taken very seriously and no external influences can be allowed to affect the perception of the tasters. In this clip I show Scott the Formal Taste Panel room that was built as a taste assessment centre. This is where the Columbia Brewery Keith’s IPA will be compared to the Keith’s brewed in Halifax. As the Accreditation Process dictates, only through this level of sophisticated assessment can a flavor match be declared.

i am so depressed. i travel to corning ny frequently for business and my favorite pub just informed that you stopped distributing to the states! the best part of the day was kicking back with 1, 2, or 3 of your great lager. please start distributing to the states again!!!soon!!!
I’m scared. I love Keith’s. Please, please don’t let them make it taste like Kokanee.
If you are testing for colour, why use coloured glasses? Just curious.
Great question. Glass ware selection and maintenance is an extremely important component of the sensory evaluation process. Coloured glass ware is generally not used to evaluate for colour but rather to strictly evaluate for attributes such as beer taste and aroma. Using coloured glass ware reduces the potential impact of beer appearance on the comments from the tasters. However; when a full analysis including colour is necessary we may use clear glass. I hope that answers your question and thanks for writing in.
